The National Symposium on LGBTQ Research in Higher Education aims to highlight, advance, and invite dialogue on the “doing of” research on LGBTQ issues in higher education. The day will feature opportunities to hear from leading scholars, to present competed research and works in progress, and to discuss challenges and opportunities in LGBTQ research.

We are interested in the full range of LGBTQ topics, including but not limited to scholarly inquiry about students, faculty, administrators, and staff; leadership, organizational theory, administration; policy; campus climate; teaching, learning, pedagogy, and outcomes; and curriculum studies, queer theory, and LGBTQ/gender studies. We are also interested in the findings and implications of LGBTQ research in higher education, but the primary focus is on the process, challenges, and opportunities in the area. We specifically invite submissions for presentations on scholarship that is not yet complete or ready for submission, but may take the form of “work in progress.” Our goal for this symposium is to have contributors put forward concepts that they find significant in advancing the dialogue about conducting LGBTQ research in higher education.
